Just got back from Southern Oregon and all I can say is... strange. Very strange. It's like time just stops there. There was no reason to go there, just a spontaneous adventure. If anyone lives in Oregon and finds pleasure in taking photos I would suggest heading that way to get some amazing shots of the ghost towns. They're scattered throughout the land due to the Gold Rush. Everyone ditched S. Oregon for Cali. Next time, I'm Eastern bound in search of an abandoned concrete mill in Lime, OR. I've been seeing dozens of pictures of it when I Google abandoned places in Oregon. It just sucks knowing that if you want good shots of places you won't be cuffed for stepping in are in the middle of a field 500 miles away from the slightest bit of civilization. Obviously an exaggeration but... you get the point!
There's only two places I know of here in the Northwest area; Avison Lumber Mill (which I've explored pretty thoroughly) and The Living Enrichment Center in Wilsonville. LEC, for those who don't know, is an abandoned New Though Megachurch founded by Mary M. Morrissey in the mid 70's on a a forested area of 95 acres. Mind you, LEC IS HUUUUUUUUGE. 94,500 sq. feet to be exact. Anyways, the place was closed in 2004 due to a massive financial scandal of about $10.7 million. Mary's husband was embezzling church money for his and his wife's personal expenses. He was released in 2007 after serving a 2 year term. The building still stands, battered and vandalized. I don't suggest entering here as the grounds are patrolled (GO THERE).
Here are a couple links to see just how massive this place is:
